What
to do in Albufeira
There
are lots of activities and trips to get involved with in Albufeira and environs. These range from:
-
Sunbathing
and swimming on the beaches, such as: Praia da Galé, Praia da Oura,
Fisherman's Beach, Beach of Bryn, Marina e Bryn Beach
-
Eat
at the many restaurants/cafes. Have English breakfast (a
lot better than the typical hotel version) at the Barracuda Pub just
off the main square. Try spaghetti bolognaise and a beer for
lunch, while looking at the sea view at the Antonio Afonso da Silva
restaurant overlooking Praia do Peneco beach. For your evening meal
try the pepper steak at the Tasca Do Viegas restaurant adjacent to Fisherman's
Beach (Praia dos Pescadores)
-
A
full days cruise departing from the Marina De Albufeira.
Normally includes a barbecue beach lunch, and time for swimming and
snorkelling
-
Visit
the Sir Cliff Richard Vineyard and sample his wares - should cost around 24 Euros (2007 prices). Interestingly the
Albufeirians have re-named a road in his honour for his services to
the City, which is imaginatively called the 'Rua Sir Cliff
Richard'. If you want to see this road sign it is located
adjacent to the back entrance of the Hotel Boa Vista
-
Go
to a bull fight at the Praca De Toiros, Albufeira
-
A day trip to Gibraltar by coach; this costs around 35 Euros (2007
prices) but does not include the Rock tour (optional), which costs around 20
Euros. You should expect to be travelling for six hours each way
with five
hours on the rock for sightseeing - it's a long day so expect an early
start. Look out for last minute
deals (on the notice board outside the shop) for this and other tours at Paradise Tours
located near
the town centre - you may be able to halve the usual cost!
